Roma president James Pallotta appeared on Roma Radio today, here are his words:

The Derby?
With the way we were playing over the last few months, I was calm. I was nervous during the match: I walked around a lot. Szczesny made some great saves, then Florenzi and Perotti settled the match. We are a strong group and we knew that, we just lacked some guidance. I’m happy for Dzeko’s goal to make it 2-0. I’m happy with what the team is doing. I do not like to read newspapers but sometimes it is unavoidable: they keep talking about us selling players but that isn’t the case. At the moment, few truths have been written but we have many players who are going to return from loan and others we want to keep here like Ponce, Sadiq, and Nura. I try not to read the papers but sometimes I do. There is a lot of talk about players leaving, like Pjanic. I can categorically deny this, he doesn’t want to leave and we don’t want to sell him, we want to keep him. Even though they’re just rumors, they affect the team, I’m tired of these rumors. If we made any mistakes up until now it was that we changed the roster too much and made too many moves on the transfer market. However, Sabatini has done a great job and we have made tremendous progress ever since we inherited a complex economic situation and had to make sales in order to fix the budget. In the next transfer market, we will only do a few corrective moves then integrate some of the youth players into the team.

“If we have made mistakes collectively, maybe it is because there was too much activity in the transfer window,” Pallotta added. “During the first two years, we had to do it.

“Sabatini has done a fantastic job but we inherited a situation in which the losses were considerable. There were some debts to be settled and for that we had trouble with UEFA.

“Now we have turned the tables. There is still work to do but we just have to add a couple of pieces.”

Seydou Doumbia, attaccante di proprietà della Roma e ora in forza al Newcastle, ha rilasciato un'intervista al portale web africano nella quale parla del suo futuro. "Ho intenzione di continuare la mia esperienza in Inghilterra. Se resterò al Newcastle anche in caso di retrocessione in Championship? Non lo posso dire. Ma vorrei comunque giocare in Premier. In ogni caso il prestito terminerà a fine maggio. Ormai non penso più alla Roma, anche se sono ancora sotto contratto con loro. Il mio desiderio è giocare in una squadra in cui posso esprimermi al meglio fino a fine carriera".

Doumbia spiega poi le ragioni della mancata permanenza al CSKA Mosca, club al quale Doumbia fu prestato fino allo scorso gennaio: "Semplicemente la Roma non ha voluto che continuassi lì. Ero pronto a restare per altri sei mesi, poi si è scoperto che avevano cambiato idea. Mi restavano due opzioni: restare a Roma senza giocare per 4 mesi o provare l'esperienza in un altro campionato. Così, mio malgrado, ho accettato il prestito al Newcastle. Vedremo poi come andrà a finire". L'ivoriano spiega anche il rifiuto alle offerte arrivate dalla Cina: "Volevo giocare in un campionato competitivo, non mi sembrava il caso di quello cinese e per questo ho rifiutato tutte le offerte".

"E' stato difficile restare a Roma per 6 mesi senza giocare - continua Doumbia -, per fortuna c'è stata l'esperienza al CSKA che mi ha permesso di ricaricare le batterie, ho dimostrato di non essere un giocatore finito. Ho solo bisogno di giocare con continuità, posso esprimermi al meglio in ogni campionato, purché abbia il minutaggio necessario e la possibilità di adattarmi. Per un attaccante è sempre frustrante stare in panchina, giocando per tutti e 90 i minuti invece si trova fiducia e si ha la possibilità di esprimersi al meglio".

Doumbia fa poi il punto della sua esperienza ai 'magpies', penultimi in Premier League a 4 punti di distanza dalla zona salvezza: "Sono qui da poco più di un mese, vado d'accordo con tutti e mi sono adattato alla grande. Ma mi manca la cosa più importante, vale a dire giocare con continuità. Dovevo integrarmi bene nella squadra e posso dire di aver raggiunto questo obiettivo. Ora dipende tutto da me, devo prendermi le mie responsabilità e iniziare a giocare qualche partita. Credo che lo farò presto, anche se mancano poche partite alla fine del campionato. E' un periodo difficile per il club, da quando sono arrivato abbiamo solo perso ma c'è un barlume di speranza, abbiamo la possibilità di salvarci. Ho sempre detto che era il mio sogno giocare in questo campionato. Ora questo sogno è diventato realtà e mi impegnerò affinche tutto questo duri più tempo possibile".
