The 27-year-old Joaquin is one of Spain’s most explosive players, however things have not gone well for him since he joined Valencia from Real Betis two years ago for a whopping 25m.
Last season he had a truly miserable campaign, culminating in him missing out on a place in Spain’s victorious Euro 2008 squad.
Joaquin has been heavily tipped to leave the Mestalla in order to resurrect his career, and with Valencia seemingly unwilling to offer him a new contract, an exit is looking more and more likely.
There are strong reports that Valencia have received a 15m bid for the wideman from an unnamed Italian club. This appeared to have been confirmed by President Vicente Soriano, who when asked whether an offer had been made, responded: "This is not something that concerns me, this is the business of the sports director."
According to Laromasiamonoi.it, the Italian club who have tabled the bid is most likely to be Roma, who are looking for an attacking wideman following the sale of Amantino Mancini to Inter.
However, the Nerazzurri themselves are the other possible alternative. Jose Mourinho would still ideally like a winger for his 4-3-3 formation, and having given up on Porto’s Ricardo Quaresma, may plump for Joaquin, who he tried to sign a few years ago while at Chelsea.
