Roma Close To Del Horno Capture
After landing right-back Cicinho from Real Madrid, AS Roma are now close to Valencia left-back Asier Del Horno.
Like at Chelsea, Asier del Horno has failed to settle in at Valencia, never quite managing to get himself into coach Quique Sanchez Flores' first team. Having learnt that he is unlikely to jump above Emiliano Moretti in the pecking order this season either, he has indicated his desire to look for regular first team action. A return to hometown club Athletic Bilbao did the rounds earlier in the month, but it is Roma who have made a late move for the Basque. Super-agent Ernesto Bronzetti, who has helped Spanish and Italian clubs strike quite a few deals in the last few days, and in particular played a part in Cicinho's move, confirmed the approach. However, he was quick to voice his concern over the player's attitude, something he believes Roma can do without. Del Horno is very similar to Samuel Kuffour in terms of nature, the Ghanaian having failed as much due to his volatile approach to the game as for any other reason. "I have no doubts on the football side of things," Bronzetti has been quoted as saying. "But I warned Roma not to proceed as Del Horno’s personality isn’t compatable with the Roman atmosphere."
