Xavier talks confirmed Abel Xavier's representative has confirmed that the Portuguese ace is in talks with Middlesbrough. However, Barry Silkman has stressed that the player is not on trial and has no intention of training anywhere. "We are holding contract talks with Middlesbrough at the moment," Silkman told skysports.com. "To suggest he is on trial is nonsense, he does not need to go on trial. "He was at the training ground, but that was just so he could have a medical check to make sure he was okay before a full medical - which would happen if terms are agreed." Xavier finished last season with Roma and they had another season's option on him.
