Lippi considering Montella
Italy coach Marcello Lippi is believed to be considering selecting in-form Vincenzo Montella for the Azzurri, but has refused to name names.
The 30-year-old has been in blistering form for Roma this season and leads the scoring charts with 17 goals in Serie A to date.
Lippi has been keeping an eye on his players' form in the league and is willing to reward those who have shown improvement during the campaign.
"I'll evaluate what the league offers me and give the chance to players who are growing with experience," said Lippi to RAI.
"I don't want to make predictions as everyone must have the hope to play in the national team."
Lippi has insisted that naturally the squad he picks will be the one he thinks has the best chance of booking Italy's place in the 2006 World Cup.
"Whatever happens, we must still consider that our first aim is World Cup qualification," he added.
"After we qualify, we can also think about winning the tournament and performing on the pitch.
"Once qualified we will have six months to prepare a competitive squad."
