Roma have completed the signing of Matteo Ferrari from Parma.
The Italian international has agreed a four-year deal with the capital club.
Ferrari has joined up with his former coach at Parma Cesare Prandelli - who took charge of Roma earlier this summer.
Roma are looking to invest in their squad following the departure of Emerson to Juventus.
Prandelli's next move could be for another one of his former charges in the shape of Simone Perrotta - who worked under him when he was with Chievo Verona.
Roma are still rumoured to be very much in the market for Parma's Alberto Gilardino - who again Prandelli knows well.
But Parma coach Silvio Baldini has stated that club want to keep him.
"Club's officials told me this year that Gilardino won't leave Parma, he will be sold next season", Baldini said.
Baldini has now lost Ferrari, Emiliano Moretti and Simone Barone and he hopes that he can keep the rest of his squad.
"My hope is that this Parma will now remain and the officials have told me these players will stay.
"I have a young group and we must be good to allow them to grow."
