Walter Samuel has given his farewells to the Giallorossi fans and explained why he chose the move to Real Madrid.

“I leave Roma,” he explained on the official club website, “with the certainty that I gave 100 per cent in every moment I had the honour to wear the Giallorossi colours.”

The Argentine defender officially completed his £18m switch to Madrid last night and puts an end to his four-year relationship with the club.
