Brazil have called Paris Saint Germain’s Lucas Moura and Grêmio goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe into their Copa América squad. They will replace the injured Rafinha (Barcelona) and Ederson (Benfica).
Benfica goalkeeper éderson missed out on his chance to play the first official competition with the Brazilian national team.
éderson, who was included in Brazil's Copa América Centenário squad, was removed on Tuesday, due to an inflammation of the pubic bone. The injury also affected the plans of Brazil coach Dunga, who wanted to closely monitor the 22-year-old, with one eye on the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro this August. And to make matters worse, Portuguese newspaper A BOLA says in its Wednesday edition that Benfica have decided not to release the young goalkeeper to compete in the Olympic Games. As there is no obligation for clubs to release players for the Olympics, the Brazilian football federation would have to negotiate the release of the keeper with Benfica. éderson will have to continue the treatment for his injury at Benfica and show that he's in good condition for the Olympics.
