Lazio keeper Peruzzi cools retirement talk
Lazio goalkeeper Angelo Peruzzi insists he was only joking when declaring this week he intended to retire at the end of this season.
The 36-year-old told journalists after Lazio's 0-0 draw with Cagliari on Sunday evening that this would be his last Serie A campaign.
"It was a joke, I didn't think it would create all this controversy," said the goalkeeper today. "It's premature to talk about my future, as there is a long way to go before the end of the term and it would be irresponsible of me with regards to Lazio."
The veteran shot-stopper had also considered retirement last summer, but assures fans this is an on-going situation.
"I have met with President Claudio Lotito and we decided together that we'd take it one season at a time. I already know what I want to do after I do hang up my gloves, but there are more important things to think about right now." 佩鲁济:退役?我只是开玩笑
