Ajide returns to Roma

After a nine-month loan spell at Swiss side, AC Bellinzona, attacking midfielder Olasunkanmi Akande Ajide will be returning to Italian Serie A side AS Roma.
With a return of six goals in 14-games for the team, the 20-year-old caught the eyes of several top sides in Switzerland but has opted to return to Rome.
“I had a fulfilling season with AC Bellinzona, which was all due to hard work and understanding,” the former AC Regiana and AC Venezia ace told our source.
“But I am keen to return to Roma to prove I have become a bigger and better player that can fight for a first team shirt.”
Ajide was forced to leave Roma for Switzerland as he had established stars like Emerson, Antonio Cassano and Francesco Totti ahead of him in the pecking order.
“I look forward to reuniting with the team, I still have a lot of friends in Rome and I look forward to rejoining them.”
“I was listed for most of the Coppa Italia and Serie A games in my two seasons with AS Roma, but I want to fight for appearances as well,” Ajide said.
“I’ve seen Stefano Chuka Okaka gradually finding his feet and I know if I can prove my worth I’ll earn a new contract.”
His confidence is equally boosted with positive comments from Roma scouts who came across the border to watch him play in Switzerland.
“We’ll see what happens when I get back but God willing I’ll take my chance and hopefully achieve my goals by featuring in the first team,” he says.
