Roma president Franco Sensi has backed coach Luciano Spalletti to restore the club to former glories.
The Giallorossi were rocked by a terrible last season, with a series of enforced changes of coach certainly not helping.
However, Sensi believes that Spalletti can bring a stability to the club this year that will allow them to once again compete with the other big names in Serie A.
"We have been through a really difficult season," said Sensi. "Roma needed four coaches because we lost our original one because of personal problems.
"The consequence of this was we were not adequately prepared and had the wrong mentality within our squad.
"I took a leap of faith with Luciano Spalletti but I can sense a change in the mood.
"It is perhaps a better atmosphere at the club now than it has had for years.
"Spalletti is a serious person and I think he will transmit his work ethic that we appear to have lost.
"I think we can fight to win the league. We have made a huge effort to turn things round.
"Roma now have a future from both the technical and financial point of view. We have good players and a competitive squad.
"Our first duty is to rediscover the discipline and motivation on the pitch.
"I like the word chosen by Spalletti - normality. Normality will bring success.
"I'm not interested in where we finish - only that we live up to the stature of the club."
