Roma continue their pursuit of top target Jonathan David of Lille.
The Canadian striker, author of 43 goals across the last two seasons, is the club’s preferred choice to replace Romelu Lukaku.
With Big Rom’s loan coming to an end, the Giallorossi are eager to find a suitable replacement that would fit Daniele De Rossi’s 4-3-3 system.
Hence, Jonathan David is said to be Roma’s chief objective for this summer.
David’s contract at Lille expires in 2025, making him one of the most sought out players in this coming transfer window.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma are very much locked in a race for the Canadian international.
The race is said to involve AC Milan.
Paulo Fonseca, who will soon take over as Rossoneri’s head coach, has asked the club to secure David’s signing from Lille. This would mark a reunion for the two.
Roma, however, remain locked in and hopeful to convince David to join them.
The newspaper assures Roma is not out of negotiations, far from it.
The capital club have to wait to sell Tammy Abraham for a figure above 20 million (22-25 million) to launch the assault on the desired reinforcement.
With Abraham’s sale, Roma would thus make the decisive splash on David as their top target.
