Jonathan David continues being linked with Roma who are still on the look-out for a strong striker this summer.
With Romelu Lukaku gone back to Chelsea (and now rumored to be on the move to Napoli) Roma are yet to appoint a new starting forward.
The Giallorossi’s idea is to invest in a top quality attacker with Tammy Abraham as the potential back-up option.
In recent weeks, rumors picked up, linking Roma with Jonathan David from Lille.
The Canadian star forward has only one year left on his contract and thus far no team has made any concrete progress in their talks with Lille.
According to The Sun, the latest team to drop out of the race for David are West Ham United.
The reason is linked to the costs involved: during a conversation with David’s agents, West Ham were presented with a request of 10 million euros in commissions (to be added to the 30 million euros that Lille is asking for). This evaluation was considered too expensive by West Ham, who therefore decided to turn to other objectives.
One of these is Jhon Duran, playing for Aston Villa.
Roma therefore has one less rival in the race for David, but will still have to duel with the likes of Chelsea who are also interested in the Canadian attacker.
