Santana rejects Roma shot

Mario Alberto Santana insists he does not want to leave Palermo despite reports linking him with the Giallorossi.
“I don’t feel like I am on the transfer market,” said the midfielder. “I want to stay here in Sicily and prove that I am still the player who did so well at Chievo.”
The Argentine midfielder scored three goals in 28 appearances at the Stadio Bentegodi last season, but has struggled to make his mark at Palermo so far.
His future was in such doubt that President Maurizio Zamparini announced he would sell him to Roma in January, where he'd reunite with former Chievo Coach Gigi Del Neri.
“I don’t even know why I’ve not been playing to my full potential. These things can happen, but I have to react to that without panicking. After all, I did well in pre-season friendlies with Palermo and am getting back on track after a major lull.”
Santana’s last chance to prove himself could be against Reggina on Thursday afternoon, thought it will be a difficult game for the club.
“We have three players suspended, so I have a better chance of playing,” said the ex-Venezia and San Lorenzo man. “There is plenty of competition for midfield places here and it is up to the Coach to decide. I only know I’ll do my best to help the squad.”
