Del Neri to pen Roma deal

Gigi Del Neri’s agent has confirmed that “only details” remain to be worked out before he can become the new Roma Coach.

“All we need to do now is to work through one tiny detail,” revealed representative Massimo Brambati on a local radio station.
“This final hurdle will be easy to surpass, both thanks to Roma’s intentions, but above all due to Del Neri’s extraordinary enthusiasm for this new challenge. The Capital club represents an important and stimulating arena with a group of players he considers to be world class.”
The list of potential candidates to replace Rudi Voller following his resignation was quickly whittled down to one and it’s widely expected Del Neri will sign a two-year contract after tonight’s Real Madrid match.
The former Chievo and Porto boss should already be on the bench for the Serie A crunch match with Inter on Sunday night.

There were also reports suggesting that Del Neri was being lined up to replace Emiliano Mondonico at the helm of Fiorentina.

“There was contact with the Viola,” confirmed Brambati, “but it’s unlikely that we’ll reach an agreement because they still haven’t decided what to do with Mondonico. Besides, I’ve already booked my flight to Rome for tomorrow morning!”
