随后有媒体爆料，之前的欧冠小组赛罗马客场0-3不敌皇家马德里后，卡尔斯多普和主教练迪弗朗西斯科之间出现了激烈的争吵。因此，卡尔斯多普无缘大名单并不是因为伤病，而是迪弗朗西斯科的决定。

今天，根据意大利《米兰体育报》的说法，卡尔斯多普没能跟随罗马出征博洛尼亚是由于主教练迪弗朗西斯科对他的训练态度感到不满。

经历了漫长的恢复期，23岁的卡尔斯多普终于摆脱膝盖伤势的困扰。不过本赛季开始至今，他仅仅代表红狼军团出战2场意甲联赛。

《米兰体育报》同时指出，迪弗朗西斯科认为卡尔斯多普没有为赢得首发位置去努力，所以这位荷兰边后卫可能会在明年1月份离开红狼军团。
