Siena Will Not Loan Abdelkader Ghezzal To Roma - Sporting Director
Roma's search for a striker has taken them to Siena, where the club's directors have eyed both Abdelkader Ghezzal and Michele Paolucci, but the Bianconeri hierarchy are set to turn the Giallorossi's approaches away.
It was thought that Siena would allow one of the two to leave on loan, with Massimo Maccarone's place almost guaranteed in the starting line-up, but the club's sporting director has ruled out the possibility.
"Ghezzal and Paolucci are two strikers who we are counting on a lot," Manuel Gerolin told Romanews.eu.
"The idea of a loan is to be excluded. Ghezzal is not a player [available] for loan, or at least he would be very expensive. But he needs to play another season at a high level for everyone's benefit."
Gerolin then turned to Paolucci, who only joined the club on a co-ownership deal this summer and is consequently not for sale.
"We have bought half of Paolucci from Juventus," he explained. "He is important to us. We have a set of strikers who we like a lot.
"Depriving us of them is difficult, particularly at no cost," the sporting director concluded.
