Parma seal Lucarelli deal Tuesday 15 January, 2008
Parma have surprisingly signed Shakhtar Donetsk striker Cristiano Lucarelli on a permanent basis.
The 32-year-old hitman has been looking for a Serie A club since the Ukrainians were eliminated from the Champions League in the Group stage.
Lucarelli had been expected to find a loan deal in the peninsula, but he has secured a three-and-a-half year contract at the Stadio Tardini.
While Torino and Genoa baulked at the Azzurri star’s price tag, Parma were willing to pay around £4m to secure his rights after Crociati directors flew to Donetsk last night.
Lucarelli is expected to pocket around £1.2m for his services and is due for a medical within the next 24 hours.
The No 99 will be presented at a Press conference at around 6pm this evening and could even play a part in the Ducali’s testing trip to San Siro to face Inter this Sunday.
