AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has sent fans into a frenzy after admitting they are now working on a deal for Barcelona superstar Ronaldinho.

Berlusconi sensationally revealed last night: "Ronaldo refused the big money from the United Arab Emirates and the United States. He has said to me that he has always dreamed of playing for Milan and that he wants to come here in order to show to everyone that he is still a champion. Dida, Cafu and Kaka have all guaranteed to me his professionalism."

Berlusconi later promised Milan fans: "And now we work in order to also take Ronaldinho."

The agent of Fiorentina striker Valeri Bojinov has revealed AC Milan have asked after the Bulgaria international.

Gennaro Palomba said: "Milan has asked for him, but no-one has spoken with me. Sure, Juventus has him for now and Fiorentina say he should stay there.

"We are honoured by the interest of Milan, but today Valeri remains a player of Juve, where we hope to see him play more regularly.

"Valeri wants simply to play."

AC Milan are in talks with Palermo for striker Andrea Caracciolo.

The Italy international's agent, Andrea D'Amico, revealed last night: "It's an operation that is in an embryonic state. Andrea is not happy at Palermo and this is nothing new. Milan and Palermo must come to an agreement.

"The ideal formula is a compromise, that is a loan with the right to sign him permanently. This would allow Palermo to move in the market in order to take another player."

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has confirmed Real Madrid sought a deal for Ricardo Oliveira during negotiations yesterday for Ronaldo.

"They have asked about him," said Galliani last night. "But I don't believe the negotiations tomorrow will be successful.

"I cannot deny Real want him. They asked to take him on-loan with a purchase option in June, but the transfer won't happen. We want Oliveira to stay here

Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini admits the club is "disappointed" with Ronaldo's decision to join city rivals AC Milan.

"Ronaldo is still a great player," admitted Mancini, "He has not lost his class, that is obvious for any of the critics that have watched him play.

"The fans of Inter have loved him since he was young, so of course we can be excused if we admit we're disappointed with developments."

Mancini was also asked about Ronaldo's former Real Madrid teammate Antonio Cassan "Cassano? We'll have plenty of time to consider him."

Real Madrid defender Fabio Cannavaro has backed Ronaldo for success at new club AC Milan

Ronaldo is still a phenomenon," said the Italy captain. "I think Milan have completed an excellent deal.

"He remains the strongest player around. I have played against him and he has always managed to impress me.

"I have heard other players say this, but Ronaldo is the only footballer who ever gave me the impression that I was facing someone who was really different from all the rest - like Diego Armando Maradona.

"Ronaldo had some misunderstandings with the Coach and some problems because of injuries, but that is part of the game.

"Now he has taken a different road and I hope he will do well."

Inter Milan defender Marco Materazzi has told fans to forget about Ronaldo's move to city rivals AC Milan

The World Cup winner declared: "To the tifosi who are disappointed by his move to Milan I say to them to just remember how much stronger Inter is.

"It's the indifference that hurts me more. I cannot see myself playing for another Italian team. But abroad it would appeal to me to play for Real Madrid."

Materazzi, meanwhile, kept his own counsel when asked to react to comments made by France coach Raymond Domenech over last weekend's headbutting incident.

"Domenech has said that I must be weak in the chest to go down so easily," said Materazzi, "well, I'm not going to answer back. There's no point answering such comments.

"What I have shown is that I now do not react in such situations."
