Roma executive director Rosella Sensi says he is delighted to see his club on top of Serie A and pledged transfer cash in January.
Vincenzo Montella's 23-minute goal was enough for the capital club to claim all three points against Empoli at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday and remain on top of the Italian standings on goal difference from Palermo.
With Juventus in Serie B and AC Milan hamstrung by their 8-point penalty, the Romans are one of the favourites for this season's Scudetto and they have begun in a way that suggests they will be there or thereabouts come May.
Sensi is refusing to get carried away with the current state of affairs but confessed that he would back coach Luciano Spalletti financially if the boss wanted to bring in any fresh faces during the transfer window.
"It's too soon to boast, we're only five weeks in," he said. "But the victory serves to boost our morale after the defeat against Valencia. We did it with many important absences and that's good for the overall squad.
"During the international break we hope to regain some of our injured players and also study the market for what we can do in January. We will have the chance to strengthen the squad and give ourselves a chance in the championship.
"But I say to everyone, let's keep our feet on the ground. The season has only just begun."
