Udinese deny Felipe sale claims Friday 3 February, 2006 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Udinese have dismissed speculation that they have agreed to sell star stopper Felipe to Roma in the summer. Newspaper reports had suggested that the capital outfit had made a move at the request of boss Luciano Spalletti, who worked with the Brazilian during his time on the Udine bench. But the Stadio Friuli outfit have maintained that the South American prodigy, who is also liked by Milan, is not on his way south. "It’s all fantasy," responded Udinese sporting director Pietro Leonardi. "Felipe is ours until June 2010, a contract which he signed and has been deposited with the League. "I have never had any contact with Roma for the player," he assured. "I read these stories with amazement. "I have a normal working relationship with the Giallorossi, but we haven’t spoken about Felipe. These rumours are without foundation." Leonardi then went on to dismiss the links between Roma and striker Vincenzo Iaquinta, another Spalletti favourite. "A swap deal with Vincenzo Montella? No. He is a champion but he can’t be a part of our project given his age and his salary demands," he added. "Iaquinta’s value will be determined by the offers which we will receive. There is no point in me setting a figure at this moment in time."
