AGAINST MOLDOVA
WITHOUT TOTTI:
SWOLLEN ANKLE AND
THE PLAYERS RETURNS HOME
Palermo September 5, 2004
For the away match in Moldova, the National team will have to do without Francesco Totti. The Roma player joined his teammates in Palermo today, but after consulting with the medical staff the decision was made not to play in Moldavia and the player returned to Rome. Totti sprained his ankle during the friendly match played in Rome. His return to the National team is therefore postponed after having expiated the disqualification he received in the European Championships in Portugal after skipping the match against Norway. The Azzurri had a workout in the afternoon and Lippi began to try out the players for the away match in Moldova. The match will be played on Wednesday at the Republican stadium in Chisinau instead of the Sheriff stadium in Tiraspol for security reasons. Italy will leave tomorrow morning from the Palermo airport and after a two and a half hour flight will reach the Moldavian capital.
