New regulations state that a Serie A club cannot sign a fifth non-EC player unless he was already plying his trade in Italy that season.

Livorno have not reached their quota yet, so they were able to register Mutu and will then sell him on to Juventus.

意甲俱乐部每个赛季只能签入四名非欧盟球员，已经在意大利踢球的非欧盟球员不在限制范围之内

Livorno 先为 Mutu 在意甲注册，再把他转让给 Juve，如此一来就回避了这一规则

在2002年，Inter 签入 Carlos Gamarra 时也使用过类似的手段，当时的利人利己者是 Chievo
