Roma stopper Matteo Ferrari has admitted that he found it tough to deal with the criticism he’s received this season.

The Italian international joined the capital club from Parma in the summer but he’s taken his time to settle.
His form wasn’t particularly impressive at the start of term and some sections of the home support were quick to point that out.
"I didn’t expect so much criticism," said the central defender. "Things happened which didn’t allow me to play as I would have wanted.

"However, things are going better for the team and also me now. My honour was hurt but I’ve responded."

Ferrari, who nearly joined Juventus last January, was signed by the Olimpico outfit after Walter Samuel joined Real Madrid.
The 24-year-old, a member of Italy’s Euro 2004 campaign, is now hoping to get back to his best in order to impress new Azzurri boss Marcello Lippi.
