Roma officially unveiled Philippe Mexes and Mido to the press, but neither will be available for the opening game of the season.
Mexes is still awaiting news on his appeal against a Fifa ban, imposed after his controversial transfer from Auxerre.
Egyptian striker Mido is still struggling back to fitness after pulling a muscle, and believes the season's opener against Fiorentina has come too soon.
"I only have an inflamed muscle," confirmed Mido.
"I don't think I will be fit for Sunday's match, but for the next one I will be available."
Mexes knows that, when he returns to action, he has to fill the considerable boots of Walter Samuel - who moved to Real Madrid this summer.
"I chose Roma because they are a big team," said the young defender.
"Now there is a new generation of players.
"Samuel has gone and it doesn't scare me to take his place."
