Sampdoria have finally landed a new goalkeeper after they announced the capture of Francesco Antonioli.
The shot stopper moves to the newly promoted outfit on a free transfer after his contract with Roma expired.
Antonioli has signed a two-year deal and will replace Luigi Turci as Doria’s new No 1 for the season.
"I am particularly happy with this signing," stated Samp transfer chief Giuseppe Marotta.
"We spent some time together at Monza and with him in goal we won a Serie C championship. We have got ourselves a wonderful person and a superb professional."
Antonioli spent four years with Roma and actually played a crucial role in the side’s 2001 Scudetto success.
However, he lost his place in the side after the signing of Ivan Pelizzoli and wouldn’t even be the No 2 this term after the return of Cristiano Lupatelli from Chievo.

07/26/2003. Tensions ran high between two players at AS Roma's Austrian pre-season training camp this morning.
Francisco Lima reacted angrily to a tough tackle from Olivier Dacourt, and turned on the French midfielder.
It apparently took several of their team-mates to separate the pair and get them back in the changing rooms.
The experimental trident attack did not work wonders as Roma emerged with a 2-1 defeat at the start of their Mexican tour.
Fabio Capello’s men were beaten by club side Santos Laguna, their first pre-season slip-up so far.
Francesco Totti started the game alongside Vincenzo Montella and Antonio Cassano, but the fireworks failed to ignite.
Reyes’ angled drive opened the scoring before a Borgetti penalty for Christian Chivu’s shirt tug.
Roma were only able to net a consolation goal in the final minutes thanks to a generous penalty for Davide Bombardini.
Despite giving away a spot-kick, former Ajax hero Chivu (pictured) was cheered on by the crowd and almost scored with a spectacular scissor-kick from 60 metres.
It’s reported this Mexican tour is not going according to plan.
The team had already checked its luggage into the airport for a flight to Necaxa, where they will play tomorrow, when it emerged the plane was not ready.
The hotel rooms in Torreon had to be re-booked late at night and the players will travel later today.

Roma have decided to set up more friendly games in an effort to be ready for the start of the season.
The Giallorossi will resume training tomorrow after being given three days off following their Mexican tour.
The capital side already had a game against Real Betis pencilled in for August 25, which will be their official presentation at the Olimpico, but have now set up three more clashes.
The first will be on Monday 18 August when they will travel to Viterbo to take on Viterbese.
They will then face newly promoted Ancona just three days later, before a clash at the San Paolo on Wednesday 27 against Serie B sleeping giants Napoli.
