| Stefano Colantuono has completed his switch from Atalanta to become the new Palermo Coach, the club has confirmed. The former Orobici boss had recently extended his contract with the Bergamaschi until 2009, but has now left to head south to Sicily. Rosanero President Maurizio Zamparini announced last week that the tactician had agreed to join the Rosanero as Francesco Guidolin’s replacement and agreement has now been made official. “Colantuono is the new Coach of Palermo’s first team. The 44-year-old Roman tactician has signed a two-year contract with the Rosanero,” read an official statement on the club’s website. “Colantuono will be officially unveiled next Monday, June 11, at the Stadio Renzo Barbera,” announced the statement. The boss started his coaching career in 2001 with Sambenedettese, before joining Catania and Perugia, leading the latter to the play-offs for Serie A promotion in 2005 before losing out to Torino. He signed for Atalanta that same year, guiding the Bergamaschi to a clear Serie B win and confirming his qualities with this year’s eighth place in Serie A. That would have allowed the Orobici to take part in the Intertoto Cup, but UEFA refused to give the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia a European licence. Colantuono’s frustration at such restrictions on his team’s progress is thought to have been one of the major factors behind his decision to leave the Lombardy outfit. | |

| Former Chievo boss Luigi Del Neri is the new Coach at Atalanta, confirmed the club this evening. “This afternoon there was a handshake agreement between Del Neri and President Ivan Ruggeri,” said the statement. “The contracts will be signed on Monday.” The Orobici had been looking for a new tactician following Stefano Colantuono’s decision to move to Palermo. Del Neri was out of contract, as he was released by Chievo after their relegation into Serie B. He had offered to stay on, but could not reach an agreement with the club. The 56-year-old Coach started his career in the amateur League with Partinica Audace in 1989-90, going on to spells at Teramo, Ravenna, Novara, Nocerina, Ternana and hitting Serie A with Palermo in 2001-02. Since leaving the Flying Donkeys in 2004, he has failed to complete an entire season at one club, fired early by Porto, Roma and Palermo. Del Neri took over from Bepi Pillon two months into the current campaign at Chievo, but could not avoid the drop. | |

| Domenico Di Carlo has been appointed as the new Coach of Parma following Claudio Ranieri’s departure. “Parma announce that a deal has been finalised with boss Domenico Di Carlo, who will Coach the first team,” read a note posted on the club’s website. “The one-year contract will be effective from July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2008 – with an option to extend it for a further season. “The new tactician is young but already experienced and is an ideal guide for the Parma project. He will be officially unveiled on Thursday, June 14 at the Collecchio training complex.” Di Carlo, a former midfielder, replaces Ranieri after he joined Juventus just days after securing the Gialloblu’s Serie A safety. The 43-year-old tactician started his coaching career with Mantova in 2004, after a short spell with Vicenza’s youth team. He led the Biancorossi to an immediate promotion to Serie B and the following year obtained a place in the play-offs, where they were defeated by Torino. Mantova, the first team to defeat Juventus in Serie B, ended the 2006-07 season in eighth place, but Di Carlo chose to not renew his contract and was replaced by Attilio Tesser. | |

| Serie A minnows Siena have confirmed that Andrea Mandorlini will be their Coach during the 2007-08 campaign. The latter comes in for Mario Beretta who, despite keeping the club in the top flight earlier this month, rescinded his contract by mutual consent last week. “Siena’s technical staff for next season will be formed by general director Roberto Zanzi, sporting director Manuel Gerolin, team manager Sandro Federico and Coach Andrea Mandorlini,” announced the club. “Siena welcome the new staff and wish them good luck for the future, certain that they will contribute to Robur’s glorious history by working with cohesion and competence.” The new men will be presented officially after June 18, when the board of directors will ratify the appointment. Mandorlini, a former defender, was a free agent after quitting as boss of Serie C side Padova two weeks ago. The 46-year-old started his coaching career with Ravenna, before moving to Triestina, Spezia and Vicenza. He then led Atalanta to Serie A promotion in 2003-04 prior to spells at Bologna and Padova from 2006. | |

| Reggina had announced Massimo Ficcadenti as their new Coach this week, but Verona maintain his contract continues until 2008. Amaranto President Lillo Foti named Ficcadenti after Hellas Verona’s relegation to Serie C1, where they lost the play-out 2-1 on aggregate to Spezia. “Verona had placed their veto on the deal, but at this stage that is null and void,” explained Foti on June 23. “With their relegated into Serie C, the contract between Ficcadenti and Verona has lost its validity. “The agreement was written with precise terms to take charge of the squad in Serie A or B. Now there are no more obstacles. We will officially present out new Coach on July 1.” Yet late this evening Verona released a statement announcing “the Coach for the first team in 2007-08, based on the contract that is still valid until June 30, 2008, will be Massimo Ficcadenti.” This could spark a legal battle if Ficcadenti is eager to buy himself out of this contract and make his debut in Serie A football. It is certainly a bind for Reggina, who are the only top flight club still without a Coach, having seen Walter Mazzarri join Sampdoria. | |
